Who we are

This website is operated by the Law Offices of Adele Schneidereit (“we,” “us,” or “our”), a California law firm with offices on the Central Coast, near the Bay Area, and near Los Angeles. This policy explains what information we collect through this website and related communications, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Contacting us does not create an attorney-client relationship

Submitting a form, booking a consultation, using our chat, calling, texting, or emailing us does not by itself make you our client. An attorney-client relationship begins only after we have agreed to represent you, typically in a signed engagement agreement. Until then, please do not send us confidential or time-sensitive details about your legal matter through the website or chat. We will ask for the information we need during your consultation.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you use our contact form, book a consultation, chat with us, or call, text, or email us, we collect what you provide. This usually includes your name, phone number, email address, how you would like to meet, the type of legal help you are looking for, and any message or notes you include.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, ours uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working and to understand how it is used. This can include pages you visit, the date and time of your visit, the website that referred you, your browser and device type, and an approximate location based on your IP address. We do not use this information to identify you personally unless you also contact us.

Information from other sources. If you contact us through a third-party service, such as Google Local Services Ads or a legal directory, we usually receive the information you submitted to that service, such as your name, phone number, and the type of help you requested.

How we use your information

  • To respond to your inquiry and schedule and hold your consultation
  • To send appointment confirmations and reminders by email or text message
  • To check for conflicts of interest before we can speak with you about your matter
  • To evaluate and, if we agree to represent you, carry out your legal matter
  • To operate, secure, and improve our website and services
  • To comply with our legal and professional obligations

Text messages

If you give us your mobile number, you agree that we may text you about your inquiry and appointments, such as confirmations and reminders. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop receiving texts at any time, or HELP for help. We do not share your mobile number or text message consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising purposes. We share information only:

  • With service providers that help us run our firm, such as our website and client management platform, email, text messaging, and video meeting providers. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
  • When required by law, court order, or our professional obligations, or to protect the rights and safety of our clients, our firm, or others.
  • With your consent or at your direction.

How long we keep information

We keep information as long as needed for the purposes described above, including any period required by law or the rules governing attorneys. Client files are kept according to our file retention practices.

How we protect information

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No website or internet transmission is completely secure, which is one more reason not to send confidential details through the website.

Your choices and rights

  • You can ask to review, correct, or delete the personal information you have given us through this website by contacting us using the details below. We may need to keep certain information to meet our legal and professional obligations.
  • You can set your browser to refuse or delete cookies. Some parts of the site may not work properly without them.
  • Our website does not currently respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals.
  • California residents: we do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

Children

This website is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them through it.

Links to other websites

Our website links to other sites, such as legal directories and maps. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Please review their privacy policies.
